The Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve has a total surface area of 31,063.90 ha, with several types of protected areas.

Forests occupy most of the natural park's surface area, followed by shrub, grassland and herbaceous fields, crops, plantations and nurseries.

The main socio-economic sectors are services (mainly hotels and restaurants), industry, construction and agriculture.
