The meeting was held at the Montseny Biological Station (Fontmartina, Fogars de Montclús), in the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve (included in the Natura 2000 Network). It was attended by 21 people, including scientists and representatives of different entities involved.

 

This day was divided into three thematic blocks in which all attendees worked together. Each discussion block was introduced by explaining the current implementation situation and the associated problems that have been detected. Subsequently, some specific questions were formulated in order to try to extract consensual answers.

 

 

Work Blocks

Block 1: Population of the newt of Montseny

Ex-situ population (breeding centres), reintroduction (modelling), research- experimentation (naturalised aquariums) and amphibian diseases (biosecurity).

 

Block 2: Territorial management

Efficiency of action strategies, management for conservation in private/public estates and communication between agents involved in management.

 

Block 3: Communication and dissemination

Pros and cons of project dissemination, communication associated with emerging amphibian diseases (biosafety), environmental education and manual of good practices.

 

 

At the end of the morning session, a field visit was made to observe the actions carried out so far.

We consider that the day was very fruitful and gives rise to new lines of work within the Life Tritó Montseny project.
