IX Meeting of studious of the Montseny

The first presentation of the Life Tritó Montseny project was made within the framework of the IXth Meeting of studious of the Montseny.
The IX Meeting of studious of the Montseny took place at the La Garriga theatre - El Patronato, on 17 and 18 November 2016. Like the eight previous editions, it was a great opportunity to increase information to support management, exchange experiences, increase knowledge and, above all, add synergies in favor of the conservation of Montseny's natural and cultural heritage.
The Life Triton Montseny project aims to improve the conservation status of the Montseny brook newt (Calotriton arnoldi) and its riparian habitat.
The project opened the day with a presentation where they participated, among others: Mr. Jesús Calderer, deputy of Natural Spaces of the Diputación de Barcelona, Mr. Lluís Costabella, deputy of Environment of the Diputación de Girona, Mr. Ferran Miralles, general director of Environmental Policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr. Albert Benzekry, fourth deputy mayor and alderman of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr. Albert Benzekry, fourth deputy mayor and councilor of the Regional Government of Catalonia; Mr Gabriel Esquius, CEO of Forestal Catalana, SA, and Mr Josep Maria Alonso, Head of Research and Conservation at the Zoo, to replace Ms Carme Lanuza, Director of Zoo de Barcelona.
Mr. Daniel Guinart and Ms. Joana Barber also spoke, explaining the objectives of the Life Trito Montseny project, and conservation management, based on research and monitoring, in the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve.
