22/11/2021 16:13 h.
Sant Feliu de Buixalleu hosted the exhibition of the project
On 16th, 17th and 18th November, "My name is Calotriton and I only live in Montseny!" could be visited at the municipal pavilion "Polivalent" (Avda. Gaserans, 188) of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, the only municipality of the Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve of Montseny where, due to the COVID-19, it had not yet been possible to exhibit it. The visiting hours were from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on all three days.
Taking advantage of the fact that this year the 3rd and 4th grade students of the Alzines Balladores school in Sant Feliu de Buixalleu are working on the didactic unit "El Montseny i l'aigua" within the programme "El Montseny a l'ecola", a park ranger, on 17th November, made a guided visit to the exhibition. The pupils also took part in the plaster newt workshop, where each pupil made their own Montseny newt.
With the visit to this municipality, the project's exhibition concludes its tour of the eighteen municipaliteies in the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve.
More than twenty thousand visitors
Since it opened in May 2018, more than twenty thousand people have already been able to visit "My name is Calotriton and I only live in Montseny!", which during three years of itinerancy has been exhibited in thirty municipalities throughout the country.
The exhibition shows aspects of the biology and ecology of the Montseny newt (Calotriton arnoldi) and disseminates the particularities of this amphibian endemic to the Montseny. It also shows the different actions carried out within the Life Tritó Montseny project to improve its critical state of conservation. The exhibition consists of nine roll-up panels in Catalan and a scale model of a Montseny newt. It is also accompanied by small panels with texts in Spanish and English.
