Day of Networking to Vallcebre
18/10/2018 16:06 h.
On Wednesday 17 October we visited the colleagues of the Institute for Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies (IDAEA).The hydrology of Mediterranean mountain areas is less understood than that of temperate or drier environments, mainly because it presents, successively throughout the year, characteristic processes of humid and dry areas.
The Surface Hydrology and Erosion Group has focused its search on the study of the hydrological dynamics of the Mediterranean areas, with a multidisciplinary approach at different spatial scales. The group investigates various aspects of the hydrological cycle using, mainly, the Vallcebre research basins as a field laboratory to observe, quantify and model hydrological processes at plot and basin scale. The research carried out focuses on the study of precipitation interception, evapotranspiration, precipitation-runoff dynamics and runoff generation processes, erosion and sediment dynamics, hydrological modelling, soil hydrodynamics and hydrological changes in a context of Global Change.
The conference was very useful to learn about the experiences that arose during the thirty years of research in Vallcebre. The research carried out in these basins of the Berguedà, are a good reference for our project. Life Tritó Montseny's main objective is to preserve the habitat of this species that lives in a basically aquatic environment.
