The exhibition tours the libraries of the Sant Llorenç Natural Park
The exhibition 'My name is Calotriton and I only live in Montseny', which focuses on the Montseny newt, is coming to the libraries of the 'Parks and libraries... naturally!' programme in the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park. Until the end of 2022, the itinerancy includes the libraries of Matadepera, Viladecavalls, Vacarisses and Terrassa.
The travelling exhibition "My name is Calotriton and I only live in Montseny!" consists of nine roll-up panels in Catalan and a scale model of a newt from Montseny. It is also accompanied by small panels with texts in Spanish and English. It focuses on aspects of the biology and ecology of the Montseny newt (Calotriton arnoldi) and disseminates the particularities of this amphibian endemic to Montseny. It also presents the actions of the Life Tritó Montseny project to improve its critical state of conservation.
As part of the activities of the "Parks and libraries... naturally!" programme in the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park, from June until the end of 2022, it will be exhibited in the following libraries: Àngel Guimerà Library in Matadepera (from 13 to 29 June); Pere Calders Library in Viladecavalls (from 4 to 27 October); El Castell Library in Vacarisses in November (dates to be confirmed); and the Districte 5 Library in Terrassa (from 1 to 21 December).
"My name is Calotriton and I only live in Montseny!" was inaugurated in May 2018 and, during three years of itinerancy, it was exhibited in thirty municipalities of the counties of Barcelona and Girona, including the eighteen municipalities of the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve.
From the end of 2021 to the spring of 2022, it will be touring several municipal libraries in the Maresme area in the municipalities of Tiana, Mataró, Tordera, el Masnou, Argentona, Cabrils and Teià, also as part of the activities of the "Parks and libraries... naturally!" programme, in this case, of the Serralada de Marina Park. After the summer of 2022 it will continue its itinerancy with new visits to the libraries Can Baratau in Tiana (September), Pompeu Fabra in Mataró (October) and Tordera (November).
The "Parks and libraries... naturally!" programme is the result of collaboration between the Library Services Department and the Natural Areas Services Department of Barcelona Provincial Council and is being deployed in the libraries of the Serralada de Marina Park, Serralada Litoral Park, Montnegre i el Corredor Park, Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park, Serra de Collserola Natural Park and Montserrat Natural Park.
