The European Commission approves the Life Tritó Montseny project (LIFE15 NAT/ES/000757) as part of the LIFE Program 2015 call for proposals.
The LIFE programme (the Financial Instrument for the Environment) is the only financial instrument of the European Union dedicated exclusively to the environment and includes among the actions financed are those aimed at nature conservation.
The Life Trito Montseny (LIFE15 NAT/ES/000757), is a conservation project of Montseny brook newt (Calotriton arnoldi): habitat management, population and environmental education.
Under this project title, the aim is to minimize specific threats that affect an endemic species and to promote the global benefit on biodiversity of an unfavourable habitat conservation status.
The Life Trito Montseny project proposes to implement, evaluate and disseminate a series of actions with the common objective of improving the state of biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean aquatic ecosystem through the application of good practices in the use and extraction of natural resources.
The project also supports the development, implementation and management of the Nature 2000 Network since it will be implemented within the scope of the Montseny SCI (cod. es5110001) and will improve the management of the natural heritage and, in particular, two basic natural resources such as water and riverbank forest.
