4th reintroduction workshop

The 4th workshop to discuss the reintroduction of the species took place on 12 November
Within the framework of action C.15 (Identification of potential areas of reintroduction of the Montseny newt), the fourth workshop took place with the objective of deciding, in a consensual way, the strategy to carry out the reintroduction of new populations of the Montseny newt to their natural habitat.
This time, the meeting took place on Tuesday 12 November in Masía Mariona (Fogars de Montclús), in the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve (included in the Natura 2000 Network). The work plan of this 4th workshop was organized in several blocks:
- Results of the monitoring of the released populations.
- Evolution of the breeding programme.
- Study of localities for the next releases.
- Data to complete the models for extending the distribution area of the Montseny newt.
- Strategic Release Plan 2019.
Attendees made their contributions and discussed these issues relating to the reintroduction of Montseny newt in its natural habitat.
The workshop was attended by 20 specialists in the fields of research, natural heritage management and administration.
The debate was led by researchers from the Centre Tecnològic Forestal de Catalunya and CREAF.
