11th newsletter

11th newsletter

05/10/2021 13:22 h.

It brings together the latest news from the last three months

The 11th bulletin brings together news such as the release and reintroduction to the natural environment of 60 juveniles and 268 larvae of the Montseny newt born in the breeding centres of the Barcelona Zoo and the Generalitat de Catalunya (the Torreferrussa and Pont de Suert Wildlife Centres); It also reports on the signposting by the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve of the accesses to the main rivers, streams and pools with "No bathing allowed" signs to avoid the possibility of bathers transmitting infectious diseases that cause the death of amphibians and, in particular, to protect the Montseny newt (Calotriton arnoldi).

Other highlights include the four years of itinerancy of the exhibition "My name is Calotriton and I only live in Montseny", which has been seen in several towns and places in Catalonia and has received nearly 21,000 visitors; and the visit, from 11 to 17 July, of seven young people in Viladrau as part of the stay organised by the Vincles Foundation "Young Talents and Water", to work on water issues in the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve. The participation of the coordinator of Life Tritó Montseny, Daniel Guinart, in the act of conclusion of the Life WetFlyAmphibia project, on 11, 12 and 13 July in the National Park Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna, where he presented the project, is also included in the 11th bulletin.
